Seizo-san pays much attention to specific details when illustrating his graphic novels. One could learn a lot about traditional Japanese culture merely by paying attention to these splendidly presented cultural details. Here we see Sai-san with her sleeping husband, Kohei-san. The tatami mat floors, low furniture, futons and other objects are drawn with great skill and accuracy, giving the perfect view of a traditional comfortable household. I believe there are 10 volumes of the "Sai" manga series. Though not easy to find they should be available through a Japanese bookstore in your area. Seizo Watase is not well known outside of Japan, but hopefully with his recent ground breaking exhibit in Los Angeles this will begin to change!
