Masami
Teraoka is a Japanese born artist who lives in Hawaii. His
artworks are stylistically inspired by the traditional woodblock
prints of old Japan, but the content of his work is thoroughly
contemporary. With searing Pop art sensibility, Masami-san
explores the crisis ridden modern world.
Cultural
identity, AIDS, technology, random violence, mass consumerism,
and war... all are targets for the brush of this powerful
modern artist. The works presented here are from Masami-san's
AIDS Series and the captions to the works when bracketed by
quotation marks are the artist's own words.
