(previous page) X is a supernatural thriller that takes place in the near future of modern Japan. It portrays an epic battle between mystical forces vying to control the earth. The character designs, fluid animation, gorgeous background scenes, haunting music, and overall high quality of this stunning animation guarantees it the title of "classic." Rintaro directed the X movie with the art direction and character development handled by Nobuteru Yuuki of "Record of Lodoss War" fame. X was serialized in Japan in the monthly shoujo (girl's) manga magazine "ASUKA." Rintaro's latest animated feature film is "Metropolis"... a wonderful film based upon a manga by the "Father" of manga and anime, Osamu Tezuka. Viz Comics have published the X manga in English under the title; "X/1999" and have serialized it in its publication "Animerica." Two compiled volumes of the manga series have also been published in English by Viz. Also, subtitled and dubbed versions of this incredible movie are available to the English speaking audiences.
